Color Diamonds
Diamonds with color outside of the white spectrum are known as ‘FANCY COLOR DIAMONDS’. Fancy color diamonds come in every color of the rainbow but the 12 main colors are: Yellow, blue, orange, green, pink, purple, brown, gray, violet, white, black and white with every shade, hue and combination imaginable. Red, green, purple orange are the rarest in diamonds, then pink, blue yellow etc., and less than 1 in 10,000 diamonds mined are fancy color. Natural Red diamonds are actually so rare that maybe less than 20 exist in the world today, and command huge prices when up for auction.
DIAMOND COLOR MEANINGS
Many people believe that different colored diamonds, much like different colored gemstones - have different meanings.
Green colored diamonds symbolize wealth and nature.
Pink colored diamonds are representative of creativity, love and romance.
Red colored diamonds show confidence and power. In the Chinese culture, the color red symbolizes good luck.
Purple or Violet colored diamonds represent luxury, nobility and spirituality. Purple is also seen as a royal color.
Black is no longer seen as a negative color, but represents sophistication. Black colored diamonds and have also recently become widely popular.
Brown, Chocolate, Champagne or Tan colored diamonds are often connected with the earth and nature and may represent harmony, tradition and the earth.
Orange colored diamonds symbolize energy and enthusiasm.
Yellow colored diamonds show happiness and joy. The color yellow is also associated with friendship.
Blue colored diamond can be worn on a brides wedding day for “something blue”.
